Indoor houseplants

Hello everybody!
Welcome to my blog! Today I am going to share with you some knowledge I have gained throw-out my experience with in-house plants. I have tried and failed many times with different types of plants I have taken for my place. I hate when it comes that time, when my flowers are almost lifeless, with brown leaves and I have to start up again, buying new plants to fill in my vases. For a long time I thought it is difficult to grow plants and flowers in an apartment. But since I love flowers and especially I love that greenery look that they give to my apartment, I couldn’t give up. So I studied and experimented a lot with different type of flowers and here I came up with a list of indoor plants/flowers that are perfect for first time plant owners or for people who don’t really want to give a lot of efforts on houseplants. All the plants I have chosen are good for indoors, with strong survival abilities, require low light, are air purifying and diverse in its appearance.

One of the houseplants I have been successful since the first time I owned is Split Leaf Philodendron. I love this plant, because not only it does not require much care, but it grows tall and it gives my place a green and cozy and healthy look. Just love it. In order for it to grow taller stake some middle stems. They tolerate low light and need some moist, but not overwatering. Split Leaf Philodendron or as it is known otherwise Swiss Cheese plant is also a very good air purifier. Healthier home, healthier life.

Aloe Vera. I love Aloe Vera. I have one in the office, in the kitchen and in the balcony. And, oh how much I get out of it! Not only it has that beautiful tropical look, but also it is very useful, in my case for home-mad face masks, to sooth little burns I get in the kitchen etc. It is also a great air purifier. Aloe Vera does not require much care at all. Just put it in a size-comfortable pot with succulent soil that drains easily and water it very rarely, not more often than once in 10 days.

Orchids are one of my favorite flowers and I love to have them anywhere around, my bedroom, my office. But, not knowing how to take care of them can be difficult and expensive. I have purchased many orchids and failed to take good care of them, and replaced them again and again and so on, until I learned their trick and found out that actually orchids do not require that much care. Just when you buy one, don’t live it in the same soil, but put it in a nice pot with big holes, filled with chips of bark, stones, tree fern or some other loosely packed material, which keeps roots well-aerated and permits water to drain quickly. Don’t overwater, once a week or less and put it near a window where it can get some sun more directly then the other in-house plants.

There are a few palm plants that are adaptable for indoors, but Kentia Palm is my favorite. It requires less light then others, and it grows tall and elegant. It makes a great impact in the interior of the room, so it’s a must have decorative item (see my article on the must-have items for your home décor). This plant is a good air purifier and it does not require much care, a little moist in the summer and a bit less in the winter. Here’s a healthy plant effortlessly!

Lucky Bamboo

Boston fern is a beautiful plant with great air purifying abilities. It can stand beautifully in any vase filled with some pebbles, which not only will make the vase look nicer, but will also help the plant stay cool and maintain the humidity, which she needs a lot. This is a perfect plant to be put in shady corners with only indirect light. And since the humidity doesn’t bother her, it is one of the best for decorating your bathroom.
Peace Lily, is a great plant for those who don’t have a green thumb, as it is very adaptable and requires low-maintenance. It is one of the most known for its air cleaning abilities. It can stand beautifully as a floor plant as it grows tall and wide and with just little indirect light blooms into white flowers. This flower is so strong, that mine survived the attacks of the air conditioning all winter long.

have also chosen for my list the Lucky Bamboo It is a beautiful plant and with the name, its reputation precedes him. However the bamboo contrary to what you might have heard is not a good air purifier. Bamboo can grow on a simple vase with water. And here is its trick, it is very sensitive to bacteria, so water your lucky bamboo only with bottled or distilled water. it is recommended you change the water weekly, as if put in a transparent vase, because of the light accessing the roots, it might create algae, which you can simply clean them, it’s not a problem. Since the bamboo grows towards the light, you can rotate the vase time to time, and the bamboo will grow in rounded forms. However the bamboo can grow well in shaded location, indoors and at the end it still remains a beautiful decorative plant and gives your place diversity.

You can find so many different houseplants that are beautiful and have many of the qualities mentioned above, but these six are my favorite. I hope you enjoyed and liked my choices. Please comment below if you found this useful and let me know how it goes if you pick any of the above for your place.
